Dwight Jackson Johns

Dwight Jackson Johns, 72, of Hilliard, Fla. passed away in Jacksonville, Fla. Nov. 24, 2018. He was born in Folkston, Ga. to the late Aaron Marvin Johns and Leila Raulerson Johns Sept. 22, 1946. 

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and received the Purple Heart. He was a truck driver by trade and a member of River Road Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Darlene Johns; four children, Evon (Mike) Brannen, Amy (Mike) Matthews, Lee (Brandie) Johns and Angela (Adrian) Newcomb; two sisters, Elaine (Sammy) Johnson and Susan Hallman; a brother, Johnny Johns; 10 grandchildren, Chelsea (Dallas) Reid, Emily Brannen, Seth Brannen, Garrison Matthews, Dustin Matthews, Avery Johns, Ansley Johns, AJ Newcomb, Austin Newcomb and Aaron Newcomb; one great-grandchild, Hallie Reid and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

The family received friends Tuesday, Nov. 27 at River Road Baptist Church from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the church today Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Conner, Dr. Benji Loyd and the Rev. Hal McIntosh officiating. Burial will be in Conner-Green Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Brannen, Mike Matthews, Adrian Newcomb, Garrison Matthews, Dustin Matthews, Seth Brannen, Dallas Reid and Dalton Delano.
