
Samuel Jacob Sikes, 86, of Hilliard, Fla. passed away Aug. 7, 2018 in Jacksonville, Fla.
He was born Sept. 6, 1931 in Nassau County. He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He retired from the City of Hilliard Road Department. Mr. Sikes was a member of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church. His passion in life was farming.
Mr. Sikes was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Ola Sikes; a granddaughter, Christina Johnson; two brothers, Jack and James Snowden and two sisters, Louise Ricketson and Helen Ricketson.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen M. Sikes; two children, Denise (Frank) Tolosi and Sandra (Mike) Tolosi; four grandchildren, Lisa Tolosi, Candace Parker, Carrie Johnson and Jacob Tolosi; six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family received friends Friday, Aug. 10 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 11 at 11 a.m. in the Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Jimmy Brannan officiating.
