Mr. Joey “Bubba” Michael Rhoden, Jr., 18, of Hilliard, Fla. passed away on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018 at his residence.
Joey was born on October 26, 2000 in Waycross, Ga. to Joey Michael Rhoden, Sr. and Crystal Howard Rhoden. He was raised in St. George, Ga. for 15 years before moving to Hilliard three years ago. Bubba was a student in the 11th grade at West Nassau High School in Callahan, Fla. and a member of the St. George Church of God in St. George. Joey was known as gentle giant who enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on things. He was loved by everyone he met. He enjoyed life and will be deeply missed by his family and all his friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Virgil O. Rhoden, and by his maternal grandparents, Jack Long and Blanche Long. Bubba is survived by his parents, Joey and Crystal Rhoden, Sr. of Hilliard; one sister, Brittany (Derrin Batton) Howard of Hilliard; one brother, Reed Oliver Rhoden of Hilliard; paternal grandmother, Jo Anne (Mackie) McDuffie of Macclenny, Fla.; maternal grandmother, Rosa Howard of St. George; maternal grandfather, Norris Howard of St. George; maternal great-grandmother, Sarah Howard of St. George; and maternal great-grandmother, Gerry Eastwood of Savannah, Ga.
A funeral service to honor the life of Bubba was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 in the St. George Church of God with the Rev. Grady Allbritton, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Emmaus Church Cemetery in St. George, Ga. Visitation and gathering with the family was from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10 at the church. Guerry Funeral Home, U.S. 90 East in Macclenny, is in charge of arrangements.
